Three Eagles For the King by TwaRavenMotifs Three Eagles For the King by TwaRavenMotifs
One sun lined rayonny, white stark against pitch black
Another sun born rayonné, shining paler in colour's lack
Names in ogham, tangled like thread, all hung in the sky
Four arrows, however blunt, flaming down to anguished cries

Three eagles, bound and armoured, charged with the eternal blaze
Heads of kings, heads of warriors all held in their gaze
The aether above, the dawnrise below, all circling as they desire
Three eagles for our king, for all our heaven-born sires

Wow, I really really love the design, the varies in patterns that are different but still work very well together.
Very impressive work indeed and I love the poem.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy the design. I have a thing for putting too much detail in my work. :D

The "eagles" remember me to ravens, looking at their beaks and the tail. That's the silhouette a raven shows in flight.

An old kenning for battle is "feeding the eagles", the idea being that, like ravens, eagles would swoop down upon the dead after battle and have their share of the bodies left behind. Warriors were also known in a kenning as "destroyers of eagle's hunger".

Thanks for explanation.
So the wolves that feed on dead bodies after a battle would fit in that picture/symbolism too.

They would, but there's already a lot of stuff in my gallery with wolves in it, so I'm giving the birds of prey a bit more appreciation. :)
